do we have to use like mathematical expressions to solve this?

I just cross out all the "impossible" numbers..

from (2) and (4): the number is even
from (3): it’s 8 or 18 or 28 or ... or 98
from (1): 28 or 58 or 88

but 28 & 88 is divisible by 4, so it’s 58..

is there a mathematically more correct way?
